
The only reason losing fat and maintaining fat loss seems difficult is because we make it difficult.
We buy into hypes! We diet and diets do not work!
Why?
Most diets restrict calories to the same amount of calories each day. This yields initial weight loss results. The human body, the superior machine it is, adjust and slows the metabolism to utilize the reduced calories thus we plateau.
We then restrict further and the cycle above continues.
Why do we tend to gain back even more than just the weight lost. Well, we slowed down our metabolism!
Thats right! Dieting slows down our metabolism.
Dieting typically involves deprivation meaning we deprive ourselves of certain foods. It is not that we need these foods to survive, in fact, much of what we have eaten to gain fat are nutritionally void foods that likely need to be eliminated AND chances are mentally we are not prepared to fully eliminate any food 100%.
Other reasons dieting does not work.
• Dieting does not heal the body.
• Dieting does not create good health and fitness
• Dieting does not support mental well being
• Dieting burns muscle
• Dieting is not sustainable
To lose fat and maintain fat loss requires a healthy and strong metabolism which is created by a consistent weight training schedule coupled with a nutritional eating plan.
Yes, when one has fat to lose, the nutritional plan will be less calories than the individual consumed while gaining the weight, however, the individual will not feel deprived or hungry because nutritional dense foods are super low in calories so you get to eat a lot while healing the body and losing fat. In fact, most of my clients struggle with eating all that is on their nutritional plan.
You have to eat to lose. You just have to eat the right foods. To lose fat and maintain fat loss, you will be creating new habits for a lifestyle change- a healthy and fit lifestyle. In contrast, hype/ fad diets tend to be temporary preying on one outcome, weight loss. Changing your habits and therefore your lifestyle encompasses weight loss (fat loss) and your entire well being.
What I know is as you become healthy and fit, the changes you experience in your overall well being and the changes you experience aesthetically, one will never return to unhealthy habits or to poor health and fitness.
This leads me to the biggest reason dieting does not work! You do not reap the rewards that you reap with healthy and fit lifestyle change. You do not feel good physically or mentally when you diet-you feel depleted and weak! Slowing your metabolism steals energy where healing your metabolism gives energy! Low energy deprives the brain!
Here’s the deal! If you have health and fitness goals- with 70% of Americans in poor health and fitness (over fat and/ or obese) most of you should have goals- just keeping it real- you have to throw out all previous experiences of “dieting”, you have to throw out previous attempts at fat loss with endless amounts of cardio, and you really have to throw out what you think you know about losing weight, losing fat, and getting healthy- since it has not worked is it going to be that hard to throw out? Remember its a choice- a choice of mindset.
Release all that has not worked because if it worked you would not be where you are!
Release all your guilt around it!
Release your negative energy!
