Bloodwork speaks volumes:)
So here is Alex Pilson LDL aka bad cholesterol bloodwork for the past 7 years. Yes, I was granted his permission to share.
In 2014, his LDL was high at 120.
You will notice that from 2014 to 2015 his LDL dropped within healthy range of 90.
What was happening in this time period? He and his ex wife started working out and eating better in an effort to turn their relationship around. Common sense says divorce was likely on both of their minds.
Divorce took place in 2015, Alex was still trending down in a good direction with his LDL. Single life and the return to dating will bring the best out of us because we want to bring our best to the table. What also happened in 2015 he was dating a vegan for about 4.5 months so he was eating a lot less meat and much healthier than normal.
Side note per my earlier post- what if-just-what if- we always brought our best to the table even when we are in a relationship or married? Not just in the beginning?? Just a thought…
What happened that he went up again from 2016 to 2017. He sold the house he was living in with his ex and daughter prior to divorce, moved into an apartment, was no longer dating vegan girl, and was a bit stressed- he returned to eating bad during this period. Stress and poor eating not good for health!
Since then he has remained right around the 100 mark which is slightly high. Ideal you want this to be low- the lower the better.
Interesting isn’t? He has lost 11% body fat in the past 16 months.
And his cholesterol has not gone down and in fact gone up ever so slightly.
Why is this?
It’s called his pastry’s, ice cream, and “filler” foods.
I have never reviewed his blood work and so glad I finally requested it.
The other reminder here is that each of our blood work is different. I have low LDL and I also have low HDL. I struggle to keep my HDL within normal range and it is always at the bottom of normal. HDL you do not want low. Because of my low HDL, I have to eat a lot of eggs, nuts, etc. Alex also has low HDL too so he too needs these healthy foods that increase HDL. What he does not need is the processed foods that have bad oils, bad fats, and no nutritional value. Those foods such as pastry’s, organic pop tarts, ice cream, etc increase his LDL.
Now, if his HDL was not also low I would remove eggs and nuts from his diet because we would use all means necessary to get his LDL down. Like I would not make him eggs or buy him nuts in protest:)
Alex is a grown man- he has to make the decisions for himself. I am just the reader and the messenger for what he needs to do to lower his LDL and increase his HDL.
He is considered healthy compared to most. His doctor did communicate she would like them improved. And what I know as a professional is that a combination of borderline high LDL with low HDL is not a combination you want to have.
I would like to see him lower his LDL by a minimum of 20 pts and get his HDL in normal range. His arteries will thank him significantly. He organs will also thank him because by doing so he will be ridding some visceral fat (fat around the organs). The lower the LDL the cleaner the arteries and the less chance of heart attack or stroke. HDL is also linked to heart disease and stroke. Both are important and getting both right is super important to improved health and fitness.
Yes, blood work speaks volumes! Call it anecdotal all day long…. I call it facts! If we put everyone’s blood work together with their individual stories we would without a doubt have Definitive Study on the impacts of sugar, meat, etc on the human body.
When one anecdotal case at a time provides factual data- what more does someone need to understand what is good and not good for the body?
What has to happen for action to take place for the positive?
If you have not a complete physical in the past 12 months it is time.
Gather the facts about you! Know what those facts mean and then decide what you would like to do about the facts?
Make change for a better tomorrow and brighter future without chronic disease and limitations or keep going down the same path for what ailments come your way?
One cannot out work a bad diet!
