It begins in our core…

It begins in our core…

Feeling good because we are proud of our reflection in the mirror is simply a bonus- true health and fitness goes much deeper!

All too often we associate health and fitness solely with aesthetics- if someone looks good they must be healthy and fit.

Some of the unhealthiest people I know are thin. We think because they are thin or have a good figure that they are healthy.

Amazing how great we, as human beings, are with making judgement and assumption.

Well, you know what they say about assuming- it makes an ass out of you and I.

Health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO 1994). … Fitness, on the other hand has a more specific definition, which is defined as the ability to perform a certain task.

Holistic health is about caring for the whole person — providing for your physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs. It’s rooted in the understanding that all these aspects affect your overall health, and being unwell in one aspect affects you in others.

If becoming truly health and fit encompasses the whole person, could we agree that to truly live a healthy and fit lifestyle one must focus on all aspects of their entire being?. This would include their physical health, fitness, mental health, spiritual health, relationship health, social needs, professional health, intimacy, and sexual health.

The interesting fact is that any one of these areas can be over compensated to hide lack in another or to create a false perception to others that we have it all together or to even lie to oneself to avoid reality. For example, a workaholic may tend to place all their energy into their work to avoid having to face a failing personal relationship. Their success in the workplace creates a mental high that silences all the areas that are lacking. Silence does not mean the issues do not exist. In reality, the issues are like a silent volcano. It’s there and one never knows what is brewing deep below the surface at its core, when it will come to the surface, and to what extent it will erupt. Unhandled negativities in one’s life and body will always reveal themselves… it is just a matter of when, how, and to what extent it damages. How many warnings will one get and ignore before the huge alarm sounds?

One can get their body into physical shape where they aesthetically look good and have nutritional habits that do not support overall improved health or weight management.

Healthy nutrition is pleasure that doesn’t just stop at our taste buds. It creates pleasure in every aspect of life. Nutrient rich eating habits prevent, heals, and helps manage every part of the human body for optimal health and fitness. Including mental health.

It heals us from the inside out.

Eating poor nutrition breeds disease, feeds disease, and impacts negatively every part of the human body for poor health and fitness. Not only does it have a negative impact on mental illness it can actually cause mental illness.

Proper nutrition is so important it holds 85% to 90% of the power in us reaching out aesthetic goal! I often tell my clients what we do in the gym sculpts what we want our bodies to look like… what we put in our mouths determines if and how quickly we see the results of our hard work.

You cannot out work poor nutrition!

So once we reach our aesthetic goal, our food choices become all about the other pleasures that we experience daily from optimal health and fitness that exudes and radiates from our core.

Are you ready for experiencing such pleasure?

I am here to help!
