What came first…

The chicken or the egg?

Don’t worry this post has nothing to do about chickens or eggs… although eggs are an excellent source of protein:)

In this case of “what came first”, I am discussing all things aesthetics including desire for improved health and fitness, improved body composition, cosmetics improvements such as Botox, Fillers, and Plastic Surgery.

You are quickly learning that I am not your typical Health and Fitness Coach and this is not your typical Health and Fitness Blog- I discuss all topics that encompass health and fitness which include one’s actual health and fitness, physical health, mental/ emotional health, sexual health, social/ relationship health, spiritual health, and intellectual health.

I have written a lot about body positivity and self esteem.

Why? Because I believe that the relationship with oneself is the most important relationship there is!!

If you have a healthy relationship with yourself, you can have healthy relationships with other healthy people. To the contrary if you do not have a healthy relationship with yourself, how the heck can you have a healthy relationship with others. You will actually attract unhealthy people!

Part of having a healthy relationship with oneself is one taking care of the 7 areas that encompass a truly healthy and fit you!

1. Physical Health

2. Mental/ Emotional Health

3. Sexual Health

4. Social/ Relationship Health

5. Spiritual Health

6. Intellectual Health

Alexis, what does health and fitness have to do with plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures?

I am so glad you asked!

It comes back to people posting under the pretense of “Body Positivity” and “Self Esteem” that are created to present a perception and forward a belief that people who have cosmetic surgery or participate in cosmetic procedures such as Botox and/ or Filler have low self esteem and are caving into society pressures to look a certain way.

First and foremost, I strongly believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion and doing what they feel is right for them. I am strongly in disagreement of one person judging another for having a different opinion and not supporting that they feel is best for themself.

Who is to say you are right? Who is to say I am wrong?

I personally think a lot of judgement stems from jealously… and one’s low self esteem.

As an advocate for self improvement by first taking care of one’s health and fitness by living a truly healthy and fit lifestyle… good health and fit bodies cannot be created under the knife; and then taking advantage of modern medicine to correct, improve, tweak, or slow down the aging process so that my outsides reflect how I feel on the inside areas got me thinking…

What came first?

Peer or society pressure to be one’s best that propelled the cosmetic improvement industry or the personal desire to be one’s best?

We can all agree that marketing and the models used in marketing without a doubt is a driving force in what many buy into as the ideal beauty.

For disclaimer this is not a discussion about Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It’s a real disorder and I am not undercutting its existence. That is an entirely different blog!

The thought of what came first took me back decades into the progression of beauty and the beauty industry and resources available to look our best, be our best, and fight aging.

I have mentioned in other blogs beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is true for both men and women. Both sexes have a type and favor certain looks over others.

There is no greater evidence that beauty is in the eye of the beholder than in publications such as playboy, penthouse, sport illustrated, and fitness publications… and just to keep this equal between the sexes lets add playgirl to the list. In each of these publications, starting with the ones geared towards men or women who appreciate another woman’s beauty (gay, straight, or bisexual), woman of different heights, bone structure, skin tones, hair color, eye color, breast (aka tits) size, glute (aka ass) size, glute (aka ass) shape, hip width, distance between inner thighs (aka thigh gap), etc including private parts have been presented and represented.

Going to the men’s side, history also reveals that men of different heights, different builds, bone structure, different levels of muscle, glutes (aka ass), hair color, eye color, skin tone, etc including their private parts have been presented and represented.

If we asked men and woman who their top 5 free hall passes would be (you know “free hall pass” meaning people you could have sex with and your partner would grant permission for) you would get different answers across the board.

We all have what attracts us and why!

Alexis, what the fuck does all of this have to do with plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures?

So many of us want to blame peer pressure/ society on women and men getting procedures to improve their appearance or prevent signs of aging or slow down the aging process because they have been brainwashed of images of perfection. When in reality we personally decide based on who attracts us and why what we define for ourselves is perfection or near perfection as I believe we all understand true perfection does not exist. Again, this is excluding those with body dysmorphic disorders.

Are there people who get surgery and procedures to please someone else- probably so. Are there people who seek plastic surgery to look like a specific person- yes- that happens. Both of those are a different blog.

What if, just open your mind for a moment, most who get plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures actually have high level of self esteem and they simply are wanting to be their best version of themselves always at every age.

What if, again opening your mind for a moment, they take such great care of themselves and they want their outsides to match how they feel on the inside.

What if, again keeping your mind open, what they do they do for themselves and only themselves. If someone else in their life appreciates it no problem; however, it is part of their self love.

What if, just what if, it is our own personal desire to be our best and what we personally want reflecting back in the mirror that has driven the cosmetic industry to grow leaps and bounds… and provide new resources for us to fight the effects of aging on the exterior.

And what the fuck is wrong with that?

I say absolutely fucking nothing!

You see, I think most Men and Woman long before television, social media, playboy, penthouse, sports illustrated, and even porn had a internal desire and need to look their best, be their best, and feel their best.

Doesn’t healthy self esteem, healthy self love, and healthy confidence go hand in hand with caring about oneself?

Just remember that great health and fitness is not built under the knife. Get healthy and fit… then decide what tweaks, if any, your high self esteem and self love determines is right for you.

Just giving food for thought! After all, when we change the way we look at things…the things we look at change.

I am here to help! With getting truly health and fit… for those looking for a reputable- the best of the best- for cosmetics enhancements I am happy to provide you with trusted resources. Don’t mess with less than the best!

Unapologetically me…
