One of the reasons I am so passionate about helping others get healthy and fit!
I was at an exotic car event last evening and there was a chill in the air so I literally used the heat coming off a Lamborghini engine to warm up. As I was enjoying the warmth accompanied by a fellow girlfriend… another woman made comment for us not to worry because we are young and when we turn 50 we will welcome the cold as our bodies will be filled with heat from hormones and menopause etc.
I communicated I turn 50 in two months… shock and compliment followed which I thanked her for… and then she went into immediate conversation how being “our” age comes with aches, pains, stiffness… and everything is just harder including getting out of bed… looking for agreement.
I shared with her that it can be or we can work that shit out in the gym.
I am not shy about turning 50 on January 15th.
Age is just a number and with 5 decades of living, learning, growing, maturing, evolving, and experiencing all life has brought I can honestly say I am most excited about the chapter of life I am currently living and this next decade.
I realize and was reminded last night that for so many; and in my opinion too many, age comes with complaint. Complaint of aches and pains.
And it doesn’t have to!!!
When we make change to commit to health and fitness, we have the ability to correct, prevent, and/ or avoid the havoc poor nutrition and unfit bodies brings.
I covered this in detail in my blog series “Why lift weights”.
I am proud to say I have just as much energy as I did in my younger years. My metabolism is probably the fastest I have ever had thanks to reaching sweet spot of muscle percentage to body fat percentage…. focusing on weight lifting versus cardio. My health is that of early 30’s! Actually my doctor told me my heart test are better than most in their 20’s these days.
It’s not by chance… it’s by design. I made health and fitness a priority because Health is the ultimate wealth. What good are assets and toys if we don’t have the health to enjoy them without aches and pains.
Here is the truth… being healthy and fit is so much easier than not being… and so much more fun!!
Do we have to adjust each decade based on changes that come with age? Yes! Some decades are easier than others and with age comes wisdom.
Wisdom to know we may have to adjust nutrition and exercise to maintain youthful looks, energy, and health.
How we age is a choice!
So the question is how are you choosing to age?
With complaint of aches and pains?
Or living healthy and fit so you can enjoy any activities you choose without aches and pains or shortness of breath.
How does the choice you make impact those you love?
If you won’t do it for you, will you do it for those you love?
