Why should I lift weights?

Reason 1: Aesthetics

Whether you are Male or Female, weight training is extremely important to overall health. So important, in fact, that if I only had time to either weight train or do cardio I would choose weight training every time and here’s why!

First let’s talks aesthetics. I would love to believe that everyones motivation for working out was improved health and longevity. For most our initial desire and motivation for working out relates directly to ego. We simply want to look better!

Without a doubt working out will improve aesthetics- boosting our self esteem. It is the way we work out and the workouts we choose that will ultimately determine to what degree we improve our aesthetics.

Cardio is cardio conditioning meaning it strengthens the heart muscle. Cardio also, when done correctly, aids in fat loss.

Wait a second! Can cardio be done incorrect?

100%!!

More importantly, it can be abused or sole focus of exercise for many thinking to get lean they must focus on cardio.

A focus on cardio and/ or too much cardio without strength training will actually deliver results opposite of what most are seeking… a lean, toned, tightened, fat burning machine for woman and a toned, built, tight, and fat burning machine for most men.

Cardio can burn fat… the problem is it can also burn muscle. And muscle is huge for our metabolism!

In fact, Muscle is the metabolism game changer! It creates fat burning metabolisms… it’s the reason why I can eat a pint of ice cream a day and not gain a pound of fat!

My metabolism burns faster now than in my 20’s! As if that is not reason enough to fall in love with weight training…

Muscle allows us to create real change in the shape of our bodies. Genetics are just the blank canvas! Weight training is the paint brush that allows us to broaden shoulders, lift our butts, firm our butts, build bigger butts, shrink our waistlines, and so much more specific to each sex. Literally, every part of the male and female body can see aesthetic improvements with proper weight training.

Muscle pulls out bodies in nice and tight…. regardless of age!
